Jews in Alabama, Episode #42 (The Meaning of Life)

Since this is episode #42, we start out by paying homage to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. We talk about our Rosh Hashanah experience, including tashlich. We plug the Dixiecast, and talk a little bit about this week's controversy with Apple claiming the word "podcast," Leo Laporte's suggested alternative, and then find out that Apple really wasn't doing any such thing. Raya talks about her shiny new car, and Eric explains how we kind of shafted CarMax. Finally, we discuss the MTV reality show "Two-A-Days," featuring a local high school football team, and the controversy surrounding the chaplain in their locker room. 46 minutes, seven seconds.

Jews in Alabama, Episode #41

On tonight's show, we avoid political talk -- no mention of Joe Lieberman!!! We talk about the upcoming High Holidays, and what it's like to work at a shul this time of year. We also talk about 2004 in Birmingham, "the year there was no Rosh Hashanah." We play our very first audio comment ever, and plug our new comment line, as well as the Dinkycast. We discuss Danny Siegel (ziv.org) and his Selichot visit to Birmingham this weekend; we also talk about our new neighbors, our Labor Day visitors, Eric's trip to Vegas, and what Raya and Sophie did to entertain themselves that weekend. 28 minutes, 58 seconds.
