Jews in Alabama, Episode #9, #9, #9, #9, ....

On this episode, we talk about the iPod Nano (and the future iPod Pico and Femto), Olympic and abortion clinic bomber Eric Robert Rudolph, the joys of being Men's Club Secretary, eye surgeons who wear glasses, dentists who still have their baby teeth, cats who can't fit in their litter box, and outing ourselves to a friend who knows a little bit about coming out!! (28 minutes, 53 seconds)

And if you don't understand why I repeated the number 9 in the title, shame on you. Go listen to some Beatles music.

OK. I have done a good-faith google on this. And now I have to give a big "HUH?" to the whole dentist-with-baby-teeth thing. Are those really baby teeth, and her adult teeth never came in, or are they just teeny tiny adult teeth that just look like baby teeth?

Hold that line! Block that Kick!

You know, I just Googled it too and I can't find any mention of the condition -- though I've heard of others with this same condition. In our dentist's case, she never lost her original set of baby teeth. For whatever reason, a second set of "adult" teeth did not develop underneath the gums and push the baby teeth out of the way....

"For whatever reason?!" The reason is she's a freak!!! LOL! I'm glad you both had time to google this today...Back to work for me...

As a loyal commenter I must make a comment even if none are necessary...ahem...

So anyways, regarding the LASIK surgery there are many reasons (besides the whole he/she doesn't trust anyone except for themselves thing) why someone cannot have it. For example, people that have a bad case of glaucoma cannot really get LASIK. Also, most people still need reading glasses and such later in life. Thirdly, there are many possible complications that can arise out of the surgery that your ophthalmologist may not be willing to take that you might.

Oh man, I'm such a commenting junky. Oh well whadya gonna do?

J--

We value loyalty, and enjoy your comments, so don't stop!!

Your LASIK points are all valid. Also, for some reason, men have lower rates of complications and better results from LASIK. And, the younger you are when you have the surgery, the quicker your eyes heal. My doc is probably 5-7 years older than I am, and female obviously, so these may also be reasons. Truthfully, I've never asked her about it.

But for me, the surgery had fabulous results, and I can't recommend it highly enough. I went from roughly 20/300 in both eyes to 20/20 in the right, and 20/15 in the left. Recovery was quick and almost completely painless.

Arielle had a tooth that didn't come down so her baby tooth stayed which we discovered when she had x rays for her braces a few years ago. She could be a bit of a freak. Charley's brother who is a dentist always figured that if you brushed and flossed their teeth when they were really little maybe the baby teeth would stay. Okay so he's a freak too.
Eric- your on your own as far as your eye doctor and her beautiful eyes. I have Raya's back!
Really fun show. LOL.

Oh and the cat thing- ours uses the great outdoors. We also have a stray cat that lets us feed him! Two of our own dogs and a Pyrenees that thinks he lives in our house. He is HUGE. My skanky cat is the only one who can keep him in line. He belongs to someone who lives on the next street.

This freaky-adults-with-baby teeth thing is getting to me. I can't find anything on it anywhere. Carol needs to ask her brother in law.

And Is it Eric's fault the doctor has beautiful eyes?!!? God makes us able to notice beautiful people -- we even have a blessing for it!

Here I am, with comment #9, #9, #9, to show #9, #9, #9, ....

Thanks Lee. I appreciate your support. Truthfully (and I admitted this to Raya after we taped the show), I can't remember what color the doctor's eyes are. They might be brown. I really just said that to aggravate Raya, and make for entertaining podcasting. >:)

The doc is very cute though, and this is kind of a running joke between us. Especially because Raya finds her eye doctor quite attractive as well -- and he's even a Member of the Tribe!!! Maybe I should ask her what color HIS eyes are....hmmmm.....

PS, the litter-box-concealer came today. Fairly decent-looking (brown wicker), and wonder of wonders, it actually fits over Gypsy's ginormous litter box. So maybe the problem is solved.

I know you're all dying of curiosity, so we'll be sure to report next week!! :D

Hey Lee- I was covering Raya not because he noticed his doctors pretty eyes but because he wanted to get a rise out of Raya and aggravate her.

Hey there... I'm new to podcasts, so I've been listening to a TON this week to figure out which ones I want to keep, and this one will definitely stay on my subscription list. Besides the fact that I'm fascinated by Judaism in the south (I've watched Shalom Y'all at least 10 times), I enjoyed listening to you guys a lot. Thanks for doing this!

Hey Rebecca--

Thanks so much for writing!! We do this podcast so people will listen to it, so keep listening!! That's the best praise we can receive.

I poked around a bit on your blog and your wedding site a little bit -- interesting stuff, great pictures!! And, much love to all fellow Capricorns, including you -- my birthday is January 8! :)

Eric, I'm sure you already know this, but that's also Elvis' birthday! It's also my friend William's birthday, but I doubt you already knew that. Capricorns are good stuff.

I'll definitely keep listening; I'm even listening to the back issues at this very moment, while doing my Hebrew homework. I couldn't be more Jewish right now if I tried. Thanks for the compliment on our wedding pictures, too!

Indeed. I've always felt a special kinship with Elvis. Of course, we don't really have the bloated sweaty drug-addict thing in common. But still...

Good luck on your Hebrew homework!!
